Merry Rose Stones Lore : Sapphire

Merry Rose Stones Lore : Sapphire

Sapphire, famous for its incredible blue hues, encompasses celestial heights and human woes. The intense blue stone shares a family of many colors, according to the Crystal Vaults website: Black sapphire is said to lessen sorrow. Other colors, such as green, orange, pink, violet, white, and yellow bring a variety of special gifts, along with wisdom.

"The magnificent and holy Sapphire, in all its celestial hues, is a stone of wisdom and royalty, of prophecy and Divine favor. It is forever associated with sacred things and considered the gem of gems... It was a symbol of power and strength, but also of kindness and wise judgment." http://www.crystalvaults.com/crystal-encyclopedia/sapphire

The Gemological Institute of America offers additional sapphire lore: of royalty and romance.
"Traditionally, sapphire symbolises nobility, truth, sincerity and faithfulness. It has decorated the robes of royalty and clergy members for centuries. Its extraordinary colour is the standard against which other blue gems—from topaz to tanzanite—are measured."

Astromandir notes that Blue Sapphire associates with Saturn, in general improving the balance and industry in life. There are also cautions about when to wear sapphire. The detailed chart on the webpage provides guidelines. For those of you, like me, who can't really make sense of the chart, the usual guidelines of wearing a stone when it feels good seem to work.
